OSCARS

Recommended Posts

I HAVE TWO OSCARS(A RED AND A TIGER OSCAR) IN A 75 GALLON TANK. THEY ARE ALMOST FULL GROWN. IVE HAD LIVE PLANTS IN MY TANK AND FAKE PLANTS AND THEY ALWAYS TEAR THEM UP SOMEHOW OR MOVE THEM ALL OVER THE TANK. THE ONLY THING THEY CANT MOVE ARE TWO PIECES OF DRIFT WOOD THAT I HAVE IN THERE WITH THEM. THEY WILL TRY TO BREAK MY HEATER AND THE FILTER TUBES. AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG WITH THESE FISH TO MAKE THEM ACT THIS WAY OR ARE THEY NORMALLY THIS AGGRESIVE?

i have 5 oscars total. and i consider myself lucky then dont rearange too much they do have one particular plant they insisted on moving all the time.so i just added a little more gravel to that spot lucky it was in the corner and just burried it deep as i could. and that stoped them from moving it. i also give them toys to take there agression out on. i offer pingpong balls. there cheep and as we all know they float. keeps them busy for hours. and my plants stay in place B)

i just bought some ping pong balls today and so far my oscars love them!! all day long all you hear is them playing with them and my last reamaining plant is still there. as of feeding them more often, they always have a steady supply of feeders and pelltes. When they want some pellets they will jump up and hit the lid of my tank, and i feed them, but they really do seem to have fun with the ping pong balls. Thanks for the advice!!
