at the bottom

Recommended Posts

I just purchased two blood parrot cichlids and ever since I brought them home they have stayed in hiding or more recently at the bottom of the tank. The ph level is around 7.2 . They have been eating but only do so when I'm not around. Their breathing is a little harder then normal but they're not gasping. While spending time at the botton their fins stay in motion but the seem to be dragged down by something. HELP ME !!!!! OR HELP THEM !!!!!!!!!!

Have you checked you Ammonia and Nitrite levels? If either of those are present that would explain why the fish are at the botom of the tank and breathing hard.

How long have they been in the tank ? What other kind of fish do you have ? And most importantly what is your ammonia-nitrate- ph levels If all not in normal range will eventually Kill all fish in tank. But if your other fish are o.k. then I would suspect your parrots are victims of aggression (explains hiding but not the labored breathing).
