I have two 4" pseudotropheus zebras(red) and i was wondering how to tell them apart(male/female)? I thought the egg spots ment it was a male but the pet store owner said that the females also have egg spots too. Is this true?

When they are younge they all look orange, then when they get a little bigger the males will lighten up slightly with a faint blue tint while the females will stay the bright orange.

If yours really are 4" long then they are adult already so you probably have 2 females if they are bright orange.

you got the sexes right...usually the more egg spots there are, the more likely you are to have a male. The color change also indicates a male. Your male looks really nice, by the way.
